Perhaps more importantly, many people hold unrealistic expectations about how quickly weight loss should occur. Quick drops in weight often result from a loss of water rather than body fat. Understanding the nature of weight loss can help set realistic goals.


Understanding Water Weight
Water weight gets a bad reputation, but as Remsen explained, it's essential for bodily functions. Hydration has a profound impact on health, affecting everything from blood pressure to cholesterol. Dehydration can lead to a host of ailments, including anxiety and poor sleep. Ensuring adequate water intake while managing electrolytes like potassium is crucial.

Reducing High Cholesterol
Remsen addressed how our bodies use cholesterol. While high cholesterol isn't inherently bad, it becomes problematic alongside other factors like high blood sugar. Adjusting diet by reducing saturated fat intake and increasing healthy fats can help manage cholesterol levels. Furthermore, incorporating regular exercise is beneficial.

Navigating Skin Reactions
Certain foods, including saturated fats found in animal products, can cause metabolic congestion, impacting health and potentially feeding conditions like diabetes. Learning to balance monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, and saturated fats, particularly from plant-based sources, is vital for maintaining metabolic health.

  • Kidney Disease and Juicing: Remsen recommended a combination of lifestyle changes and specific juices—like those from cucumbers and beets—to support kidney health, especially for those with diabetes.

A common query was whether grapefruit impacts blood pressure. Remsen clarified that issues mainly arise with grapefruit juice, not fresh grapefruit.
